Sharefest – Avalon High School Partnership

Purpose:  to help students discover a pathway to graduation and achieve their full potential.

Benefits: Sharefest Youth Development Academy programming provides:

- Students opportunities to accelerate their graduation completion through the participation in flex-time classes

- Students receive engaging instruction in subjects that will help them to explore their skills and talents, discovering their potential as a leader to their communities

- Students necessary academic, social, and emotional support to successfully navigate challenges

- Avalon High School with more graduate-ready students

- Avalon High School with extra support in meeting the needs of students

- Avalon High School students motivation to learn and achieve academic milestones

- The Wilmington and Carson communities with youth ready to apply their learning in positive expressions of community belief and concern

What They Accomplish: In 14 weeks of classes each semester, Sharefest provides academic credit and mentorship services to help students achieve school success. Classes are designed to cultivate:

- Positive academic abilities

- Socio-emotional growth

- Leadership skills

Classes are offered in the following areas, depending on the semester:

- Communication Skills for Life

- College Preparation

- Digital Art/World Literature

- Creative Writing

Sharefest understands just how valuable their programs are to a teenager who may have been turned-off by school and can now see how school can be transformed into relevant life-long learning. And this is often the difference between graduation and drop-out.

LA TRADE TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE

LATTC FIELD TRIP 2018

2017 marks our partnership with LA Trade Tech to offer a robust program in Advanced Transportation and Manufacturing. Students are taught by LA Trade Tech instructors and earn college credits. This program puts our students ahead of other high school students because our students will have already begun their college program and finish their Associate's Degree earlier. This area of study trains students in the following fields:

-Alternative Fuels

-Machinist/CNC

-Auto collision

-Microcomputer Technician

-Diesel Mechanic

-Rail maintenance Technician 

-Electronics Technology

-Robotics

-Machinist

SBCC- THRIVE LA

South Bay Community Center-Thrive LA is a local non-profit in the south bay that offers our school PE and  Urban Arts elective classes. These classes are taught by local professionals in their field under the supervision of our credentialed teachers.
